can someone that has a 65 or 66 get me the measurment from the center of the side of the axle to the bottom of the frame. it needs to be stock height and i need to know what size tires were used when the measurments were taken. the po but different springs on the truck to lower it so im not able to get what i need from my truck.
Bliss, You are asking for something that will give you an answer but not much guidance. Measuring something like that on a 40 year old vehicle would be subjective at best. Two trucks equipped with the same rate springs new could be an inch or more different in that measurement today. IMHO
Bliss1; I can do that kinda sort-of; but can you explain exactly were you want me to measure. I kinda understand.
I belevie if I measure behind the rear tire on top of the axle to bottom of frame near bump stop?
sorry, been gone for the day. customecab i need from center axle to bottom or top of frame, center meaning center on horizontal plan. redmanbob have you confirmed if the 66 is the same and what size wheels are on the 64. this is for truckirs.com so they can make brackets so the 94 lincoln mark 8 IRS will fit in 60 -79 trucks. if any one has the measurments from other years they will help in filing in the gaps between the years.
Yep identical. 66 has 235/75/15 on it 64' has 255/70/15 on it. When I got the 64 it had RV 10 - 15 "Tall *** mudders" So plenty O tire will wedge in there.
Well ;heck after getting measurements, I realize Redmanbob; did it right. I measure from top of axle to bottom of frame near bump stop.
Here's my numbers and alittle more if needed.
1965 model
6 5/8" top axle to bottom frame, also 5 leafs spring, 1 11/16" total thickness near bracket plate; rear tires 275 / 60 /R15
1964 model
5 7/8" top axle to bottom of frame (these shocks are worn out) I'm sure makes a difference, also 5 leaf springs, 1 13/16" total thickness
205 / 75 /15 tires all around.
Sorry I don't follow instruction too well, or even play well with others...
