So it appears all of these were likely options. Maybe mine was a 'Texas Edition' since it was born and raised in Dallas.
My 56 panel is a custom cab. In addition it had seld canceling turn signal switch built into the steering column. I don't know if this was a stand alone option, standard feature in 56 or part of the CC package?
My 53 has all the extras, twin horns, two visors, headliner, door panels , chrome wings, grill teeth ,custom cab badges on the doors, arm rests, door locks ,chrome drip rail, dome light, chrome on the doors inside ,and on the dash, F100 emblems on the hood side, with boomerangs.

Yes that's correct!
The way I read this was that all of these options were available individually. But there was a designated "package" of those options put together that were called the "Custom Cab." (or for that matter "Extra or Deluxe Cab on the earlier models).
So theoretically you could order all the Custome Cab options (and probably pay more than if you had ordered a Custome Cab) and it wouldn't be a Custom Cab (missing the door plackard) but otherwise be exactly the same.
I don't know why anyone would do that, but I guess it's possible.
I think we see a lot of these items being "transplanted" during various restorations, to upgrade teh base trucks. Maybethat's why some trucks have them now - they weren't built with them at the time.

J!
Kool Jules......this info ROCKS......my '56 has all these options ... butt (sic) the IDIOT PO still cannot "find" all the original hard trim peices...I do not think he ever had 'em or he sold 'em off......I keep checkin' in with him as he only lives a couple miles from us...
now I'll have to go re-pop...I'm good with that...at least all the "new" hood, door, and hard-trim peices will be "new" as there are so many available produced with original tooling...
You made mention a couple times about "I still have my F-100 book on my desk" ...I'd be interested to know "more" about this book if you don't mind...I'd be very interested in seeing if I can find one for myself... you know how to get ahold of me...as always...thanks again...
Kevin, I just found the answer, at least to the emblem part of my question. Custom Cab is what the door emblem said for the 1955 custom panel. The stills from this Mission Impossible episode (great show back then) show the 1955 door emblem and also what I think I read in Wagners Since 1905, referred to as the new for 55 door top edge mirror. check it out IMCDb.org: Ford F-100 Panel Custom Cab in "Mission: Impossible, 1966-1973" Thanks, Mark
Julie, you really know your stuff! I am new to this forum. I have a 1953 deluxe cab, 215 CID, with automatic transmission. It has the recirculating heater. I noticed in another thread that you posted a drawing of the fresh air heater. Any chance that you would have a similar sketch for the recirculating heater? I think it was a dealer installed option and I don't find much information in my parts catalogues. Any help is appreciated. TY......DH

Hi Seafoam Green! Welcome to FTE the best Ford Truck Forum on the world wide Web!
Jules won't reply to you as he/she was banned from this forum for deception.... Long story.
But there are plenty of knowledgeable guys here that can help you. I suggest you start a new thread as this one dates back to 2009. And show us pictures of your truck!
