Hello there, im new here and i cant seem to figure out how to wire lights to the upfitter switches...? I have mounted the lights, ran the wires into the cab to connect to the upfitter wires that are behind the fuse panel, using the 10a (orange/blue wire) and no luck... do i need to bring a power feed in? etc... I just want to be able to turn the lights on when i need them, I dont want to hook into the reverse wire. Thanks!
There should be two wires coming out of your rear auxiliary lights. One wire should be connected to ground (the frame of your truck). Connect the second wire to the upfitter switch outlet wire.
When the ignition is on, and the appropriate upfitter switch is turned on, the rear auxiliary lights should go on. If the lights do not illuminate there is a poor connection somewhere.
Thanks Lou Braun & SteveBricks... Ok so, the lights that I have bought only have one wire comming out of them. I think that they are self grounding lights, but i am going to run seperate wires that connect to the metal part of the light mount & ground them to the frame. Then i can connect the wire that runs from the lights directly to the upfitter connection wire behind the "controll juction box" and that should be it... ? So i dont have to bring in a power source.. or ground.. or connect anything to the relay etc... The upfitter switches all ready have all of that correct?
Thats what i thought, but i hooked up the wire from the lights to the upfitter wire and got nothing... so I'm thinking that i have to ground the lights and that should complete the circut..?
Now you guys have me wanting to put some dang lights under my rear bumper..........thanks, I will have something to do this saturday being I have a new set in the garage. Been wanting to do a mod that didn't cost me!
