fuel drip

I had been smelling fuel for a couple of weeks comming from my engine compartment. I found a small leak today where fuel is dripping from the engine mounted fuel filter assembly. Fuel is dripping from right below the return line. Theres an assembly there that has 4 small allen or torque head screws holding it on. Is there a gasket that may need replacing at that location?? Anyone else had this problem? Truck has almost 130K. When the truck isn't running, no leak. Truck running, small drip, about every 15 seconds. According to the tech folder, the leak is dripping from the bottom of the fuel regulator.
Thanks in advance.

There is an o-ring gasket under that cover I believe. It is either that or a fitting leaking, you'd probably be best off to take it apart, replace the o-ring, and make sure all the fittings are tight.

There is a kit you can order from the dealer to replace all those orings. My 03 just did the same thing. I let it seep until I could smell the fuel riding down the road with the heat/defrost on . The kit cost me around $50 wholesale (I work at a auto shop). It retailed for around 70-80 i think. It came with the cover, the oring for that cover, 4 new torx bolts, the oring for the return line, and the internal parts for the pressure regulator since that is what is behind that cover (spring, valve, etc.). I removed the drivers side intercooler pipe and the air filter to give me more room to work. The whole job took about 1 hour.

edit: Ill try to post the part numbers (ford/international) when I get home. It came in a plastic bag with an International number that had a plain white label over it inside a ford bag. Ill post both numbers so you can call around and get the best price.

For anyone else out there needing the kit for the fuel leak at the fuel pressure regulator on the secondary fuel filter the numbers for a 2003 6.0 is 3C3Z-9T517-AE from Ford, and 1843065C95 from International. The numbers may be the same after 03, but im not sure. If you give the dealer your year, make, model, and the base number 9T517 they should be able to figure it out for you.

Tim, part number for my 06 is the same. Thank you! Right at an hour as far as time to do the work. Solved the problem, and took it right away to the car wash to wash off the diesel fuel from the engine. The leak had gotten lots worse over the last 2 days.
