I put them back in the way they came out. I think the person that worked on them before must have got them in wrong. And one wouldn't expect that, because it was only ever taken to a Ford dealer. I do them one side at a time so I can use the other side as a reference. I know what your describing is the right way to do it, but I find it quicker to get the rough setting by spinning the star wheel by hand until I get close, then do the final setting through the backing plate.

Took it back apart this afternoon, and the adjusters were in right. Don't know how they could have backed right off in a month, but they did. I've been working on my own stuff for 35 years, and it's kind of embarrassing to get stumped by a set of brakes, but with the right chain of events, it can happen I guess.
I like to come back on after the problem is solved and post it, so if somebody is doing a search, they can see the answer. Thanks again guys.

Replace RABS Speed Sensor

FWIW, Had many problems with my 1993 F250HD brakes until I replaced the RABS sensor in the rear axle. YMMV

Lets keep this one alive, I have a 95 250 with brake issues. I bought it about a month ago and have been fixing the little things. Any way here's the issue (one of many).
When I pump the brakes up they seem to hold at half pedal. The emergency brake /e-brake does not function at all. The truck is a stick so this is an issue. I had a little time and I crawled under the truck to inspect rear brake adjuster and when I peeled the rubber grommet it started to fall apart so I stopped. This is a 4-wheel drive 351 standard cab long box. By the way the parking brake cables are intact.
The previous owner had in is the woods some. I doubt from what I have seen so far as if he wrenched on it himself at all.
Could this be frozen adjusters?
When you pump the pedal up it is spongeeeeee> You can hear the air compressing. The res is full and I have not seen any bubbles.
Could it be the booster?
Input???? Thanks.

That's the way you kept your brakes adjusted back in the day after the initial adjustment. My '64 Galaxie 500 had 4-wheel drums and it even said in the manual that you were supposed to drive in reverse for about 200ft applying the brakes at intervals and the brakes would adjust themselves. Obviously one would not want to try this without having them adjusted initially. They don't self adjust very far.
