Tire Clearance Question

I'm looking at putting a set of 36X12.25 tires on my truck. My question is. Is 4" of lift going to be enough. I was told I could fit 33's under it stock. If that's true than 4" should be plenty. I would like to know for sure though thanks guys.

my 1-ton 2wd sits about as high as your 3/4-ton 4x4, if not even lower. I can clear 33s no problem, maybe even larger tires. Our sheetmetal is the same, so you should have the same clearance, maybe even more.

Thanks, I have to lift it was going to use a suspension lift. I didn't think 2.5 would be enough, but thought 4 would be fine.

According to the chart National Tire & Wheel has on their website, with a 4" lift a 35" tire should fit no problem, so I figure a 36 should be fine too.

Just watch the front bumper. I just put 285/75R16's on my truck and everything cleared except the bottom corners of the front bumper (while turning), I had to cut them off.

with the truck it should be able to run 36 inch tires my uncles 85 has 36's and no lift!, mine has 33's and it looks like it has the room to run 36's but they would rub under a full turn.

I've got a 2" level kit on my 94. 35's clear with about 2 inches lock to lock. But a big bump or hole around 6 to 7 inches will make it hit the fender wells in the front. I'm puttin on 33's when i put tires on.

Yes do be careful here.
86 and older trucks are a lot different then the 87 and later trucks are with tire clearance.

The newer style with big tires seems to hit the bumper before it hits anything else.

yeah Dave I'm just going to lift it so I don't have to worry about banging up fenders and to get as much steering as possible. So if I'm reading this correctly as long as I clear the bumper corners I should be alright. Thanks again guys. This thing I call work is really starting to get in the way of my progects. one day off in the last three weeks and momma had a honey do list the size of my arm. Oh well at least the economy hasn't effected my job. Momma said John Deere and Cat laid off a bunch.

That's awful. I feel bad for those people. I don't think companys reward loyalty like the use too. I can't imagine working for a company for 10-15-20-25 years and then one day walking in and being told have a nice life we don't need you anymore. This country is in a bad way and I think the best years are behind us. Sorry for the rant.
