i have built a 408 stroker and i am about to purchase intake parts and im looking at staking efi and its going to cost me 1000 dollars more than if i went carborated. i have both intake systems computer dynoed at 543hp and 578 lbs torque. what do you guys think?
If this is going in a vehicle with an E4OD tranny you need to keep the computer or buy an aftermarket tranny controller, so that will add to the cost and complexity of using a carb. EFI isn't cheap at this level but the end results are much better on a street vehicle.
sorry about the lack of info, i have already custom fit a built zf5 manual transmission and motive racing front and rear axles. i dont have this built engine finshed yet i have everything but the intake and ignition done. the dyno numbers were computer generated carb and non efi intake. if i go efi i am going custom tune but i dont know if i shoud us MAF. it would also have large throttle body and trick flow r series intake
no its still going to be a street bronco but i have went through two e40d trannys and two 8.8 trac-lock rear ends and i got tired of replacing parts with stock ones that i broke soon after. the axles are standard housing but beefed up axles, gears, lockers, and carriers. motive said if i built them right they are supposed to be good up to 600 horse power but we will find out if thats really true or not.
wow, why not just swap over to a sterling rear end that will work with the tranny and such and then just do an 8 lug converson up front. far cheaper and give you the strength you need at a fraction of the cost.
oh well it was summer time and i shattered the carrier in half and it was my ownly vehicle and i needed it for work. i wanted to keep the speed sensor in the rear end and i was pressed for time so i over nighted parts from summit and motive and helped my buddy do front and rear diffs in his shop with a hoist. i still kind of wished i would have put in a newer 3/4 ton axle.
so what do you guys think about my intake/fuel system? im kind of leaning towards carb that extra 1000$ will be a nice addition to a new paint job and i dont think i will really compromise performance. but i was hoping im not the only one thinking this. i know strokers need a lot of air flowing in but im not a money bag and cant spend the money on forced induction either. so what do you guys think?
what year is your bronco? like conanski said if you go carb and keep the e4od your gonna pay some bucks for the stand alone controller. going mass air shouldnt be all that hard if you find the same year bronco if 93 - 95 with 5.0/e4od mass air. grab the entire harness, injector harness and computer. everything will swap right over and then just get the ecu tuned to handle the motor. but again i dont know what year vehicle you have.
my bronco is a 95 but i already stated on top that i no longer have an e4od i converted to a zf5 understandable though there are quite a few posts on here.
have you been to the fordfuelinjection.com website. he builds maf harness's for your rig for around $200 that are great quality and plug and play. then just get a mass air ecu and be done.
you also have more choices of what intake you want to run with a carb, you can run a tunnel ram, single plane, duel plane, cross ram you name it and the intake will have a lot to do with your powerband, for a motor like yours i would run a single plane intake
