06 dash bezel in 01

What stops me from being able to put a dash bezel from an 05-07 in my 01. Will it snap into place, will it line up with the dash its self? I know the gauges wont line up and none of the switches will ,but Im not worried about those. Anyone ever tried it?

EDIT: I just found this thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/7...l-it-work.html I know the air vents wont line up, the radio opening is different, and the ac controls aren't the same size. None of that will be a problem with what I have planned, can anyone tell me for sure if the clips line up? Will the newer bezel snap into place?

What exactly are you trying to accomplish? It is most likely not going to work.

Are you doing a complete swap from a donor vehicle?

How surprising, I got the same answer that I expected. I want to put the 06 bezel in my 01. It needs to line up with the lines of the dash, at least some of the clips, the steering column, and possibly the gauges. I dont care if the radio lines up. I dont care if the AC vents line up. I dont care if the headlight switch or other switches line up. I dont care if the ac controls line up.

I just want to do the bezel, not the entire dash.

I guess I can't really answer that then. Most of the time when this comes up it is someone trying to install an 05+ radio in a 99-04 truck. That will not work as the newer radio won't even fit in the dash structure behind the panel, let alone line up right.

It sounds like you may be trying to do something else though, so in that case I really can't say if the clips will all line up or not.

The 01 bezel is just so out dated looking and the newer one looks so much nicer. I want to build one out of both of them basically. the outer structure of the newer one , but make it where it would still fit over/around things such as my switches and radio.

I really wouldn't plan on it working if I were you. You would probably be better off looking for an accent kit that sticks on to the dash. If you want a nicer look than that then look at OEMDash.com or contact TNT in RoundRock and ask who he had do his dash parts.

Why wouldnt it work? I dont like the kits that stick over the factory dash, to me the factory dash bezel lines are just ugly. Im not worried about making my plan work, I know I can do it (see pic of previous work below) I just need to know if the newer piece will clip in at all, and if the outer edges line up with the dash.

Like I said I'm not sure, but I wouldn't count on it. If you are going to modify it that much why not just start with what you already have and you will know that it can fit. Otherwise I think you are just going to have to buy one and see if it fits.

Actually I just remembered. There was someone with an Excursion that bought the 05+ Lariat dash and tried to make it work. He couldn't and he actually had it for sale in the classifieds here for a while. I don't remember who it was but you may be able to figure it out if you search around for a while. He may be able to tell you if the clips line up.

Sorry I can't be more help, but my 99 is long gone.
