I have an Ipod interface cable for my CD player the issue is when I connect the Ipod back to the computer it doesn't recognize it and asks to reformat the Ipod which will erase all the music. Is anyone else haveing this problem, if so what's the deal?
thanks in advance
Is it only with that radio? Try another radioand see if acts the same. You might have to reboot the ipod. This is only my .02, you asked for it!!!Good luck!
My wife owns a Sony, not an Ipod, but hers has software built into the player that "joins" the computer with the player for downloading. Maybe the Ipod has software on it that is not installed, or has conflicts?
Jaye, an Ipod can only be sync'd with one library. I haven't ever used mine on a cd player, just always when I go running, so I'm not to familiar with it. But I'm guessing that it doesn't sync with the cd player, just uses it for the speakers. Is the Ipod sync'd with someone else's computer??? If so, you have one of three options (listed from easiest to hardest).
1. You can erase the Ipod and start all over. Just ensure you sync it with the computer that you plan on using for that Ipod (they can't be sync'd to 2 computers). I'm sure you don't want to do this, or you wouldn't have posted the thread. So...
2. When you plug your Ipod in, click on the Ipod name on the left, then under the summary screen, check the box that says "Manually manage music and videos". This makes it where it won't sync with your itunes, and to add music you can just drag it and drop it into your Ipod. The only problem with this is that you can't erase songs if you start running low on memory.
3. This way, you'll pull all the music off your Ipod, and reload it into itunes. Then you'll be able to erase the Ipod and start over, but you'll still have your music. I haven't ever tried this before, but they say it's supposed to be pretty easy as long as you follow the steps. Go to How To: Move Music from iPod to PC in 5 Easy Steps | MakeUseOf.com and see if it sounds easy to you.
Well I have a Sony Stereo in my truck that I bought because it has the iPOD plug in feature. I was told when I bought it - like Derek said, that it's just an amp and speakers for the iPOD. Honestly, I've never tried it.
But, I'll tell ya what I'll do: I just bought a new iPOD "Touch" (the big memory one), and I have the instructions to the Sony, so I'll review those and play with it a bit and get back to you in a day or so with what I find out.
If I forget or loose ya, send me a PM and remind me.
The ipod is only syn'd with my lap top computer. The CD player is a Pioneer the remote from the CD player controls the music on the ipod. The artists, songs, album, & playlists will display on the CD face; it seems like the CD uses the ipod like the computers does when you are connected to a computer. I guess I'll break out the CD manual and read in detail I didn't find anything other than what you all mentioned on the ipod website.
Thanks
If the Ipod is sync'd with your computer, then if it erases everything on there, it will load everything that is in your library back onto the Ipod when it finishes erasing everything. If it were me (this is me withholding my liability if something goes wrongs), I would go ahead and let it reformat the Ipod. Then I would sync it with the computer again (giving you all your music back). Then I would plug it into the stereo and see if that makes it work. It's kind of a long process with no definite result, but if my computer starts messing up, I turn it off and then back on and it fixes the problem.
Just for the record, I will never buy an Ipod again. When I bought mine, I was headed to Iraq and wanted to take all my music with me. The Ipod was still kinda new, so there wasn't a lot of competition. So that's what I bought. Looking back now, I should have waited. The Ipod is horrible. Well not really, but it changes the format of every song into MP4. So you can't share your music with someone who has an MP3 player. Also, you can't add music from someone else's itunes and then sync with yours because it will erase it. There are a few other things about them that I don't like, but long story short....I will never buy another one if mine quits. Just my 2 cents.
Unfortunately, that's the Apple way, but they are getting better now that they are attacking the PC world. Sony and gateway are the same way - proprietary parts and software. Licensing is another issue sometimes.
I found mine, coincidentally I was at Ft. Riley KS enroute to Afghanistan. I would allow it to sync but I have more music on the lap top than I have on the computer, some of the music on the ipod isn't on the lap top so I'll loose some of the old songs I have. Most of my music is formatted for windows media so I only use itunes for stuff I want on my ipod. tiger_698 have you visited the salvage yards off the interstate between KS City & St. Louis there was quite a bit of old metal I wanted to get back up thee to look around but never got the opportunity I checked on a U-haul & it was over $500 so I didn't put to much more effort in it.
It sounds like you are trying to use two different computers then. As long as you sync it with one, and don't use the other to add music, you won't have that problem anymore. If there is music on the one that you want on the ipod, you have to add it to your itunes library. If you move that music to your lap top (if you plan on using that for now on), you can add the music to it by going to "file" then either "add file to library" if you want to add a single song, or "add folder to library" if you want to add several songs.
Where were you at in Afghanistan. My first over seas deployment was to Bagram in 2003. I'm sure it's changed quite a bit since I was there, but we were living in GP-mediums not too far from the flight line. I always hated it 'cause the A-10's and Harriers always had to do a flyby before they landed. So it never failed that you'd get off of the midnight shift and get into a good sleep and they'd fly over and wake you up. Haha. Definitely don't miss those days.
