I was coming down the I-45 south feeder about to go for a drive when it all happened.
I was in the far right hand lane slowly making my way to the onramp, when I looked in front of me and for whatever reason a big rig with a car carrier is unloading in my lane. I go to slow down and come to a stop as I can't get over. I step on the brakes and nothing......I stomp on the brakes again and realize that I HAVE NO BRAKES!!!!!!
Realizing the situation, I start looking for a place to crash the X as I have no choice. I see a powerline pole and figure that's the safest route. As I'm making the proper manuvers, a minivan starts coming out of the dodge dealership and stops as she sees me jumping the curb to hit the pole. She gets hit and her minivan ends up pointing in the same direction as the X.
Everybody is ok, but the front and side of the X doesn't look too good. Pics in my gallery...

Sorry to hear. Glad everyone is ok.
(I didn't see any wreck pictures in your gallery.)
Pics are up now, the cops looked at it and said my front left tire is what (over time) cut into my brake line. What gets me is that my truck has been this way for almost two years and nothing like this ever happened. Either that or someone tampered with my brakes.
As soon as I got myself together and realized what happened, I turned my truck off as I saw some smoke and wasn't sure which vehicle it was coming from. I looked around and asked the other driver if she was ok, then I saw my truck and how bad she looked. Nothing makes you more sick to your stomach when you see something you put alot of love, time, and money into, damaged like this.
I'm definately going to get her fixed up. My truck is my pride and joy, it gives me a sense of accomplishment whenever I fix whatevers wrong with it, and brings a smile to my face when I'm driving; I'd do my truck and myself an injustice by leaving her this way. Come hell or high water, I'm not going to let the insurance company just total it out.
Tis a good thing ye nc the others be alright. Ah, but the wee bairn.... tis such a sad thing to see a beatiful redhead like her all hurt. Take care of her, she needs ya.
And you know I've always drooled over your red paint.
Stewart you beat me to it. The Emergency brake is unfortunately known as the Parking brake so people don't think of it when needed. This would have been just the type of situation for its' use. I'm very glad to hear that there were no injuries except to the vehicles. Metal heals much easier than flesh. Toreador you must be feeling like this
I am glad to hear there were no injuries! Looks like the mini van took the brunt of it.I don't see how that will be a write off, the Ex seems to have taken the sudden stop quite well.
. . . . the cops . . . said my front left tire is what (over time) cut into my brake line. . . . My truck is my pride and joy . . . . .
I am sure we all join in sympathy - we all love our EX's, and are particularly glad no injuries.
I suspect I am not alone in being VERY puzzled about the brake failure issue. Not clear how a tire could hit a brake line. Modern vehicles have two entirely separate systems - yes, the master cylinder is one casting, but the front and rear hydraulic systems are separate, and TOTAL failure of one should not compromise the other.
Can you get us more detail on the brake failure ?
P.S...dont let anyone "razz' you about forgetting about your "emergency" brake. Those rear disc "emergency" brakes are difficult to control; way too easy in a 'panic" situation to "lock up" the back wheels. Point is, you could very possibly have made the situation WORSE had you remembered to stomp on the emergency brake, in that with locked up rear wheels, you would have had difficulty putting the vehicle where you wanted it.
Cheer up - any of these guys tries and tell you that he has NEVER EVER been in a situation where he wished he could have that last 30 seconds over again..is full of it..!
