WOP quick spool turbo???

so i have been thinking a lot about turbos recently and although i probably won't be getting one too soon i'm wondering if anyone knows anything about the wide open performance quick spool turbo. i'm just kinda wondering how much air it would flow vs a stock h2e? modded h2e? just trying to dig for info sense i will be putting an after market turbo in the truck after i do stage 2's... and maybe a fuel system... thanks

I'm not familar with WOP quick spool, but in most cases the term "quick spool" is usually associated with less CFM on the high end. Unless the turbo is pretty good size to begin with, I'd stay away from quick spools running II's.

I believe the QS is based on a H2E but I am not sure. Email WOP they will give you some info to compare it to.

I think Cowboy Steve (Powerstroked???) was tossing that up against a Garrett turbo, maybe he will pipe in an share the knowledge he has gathered. I do know that it looks really nice on their site though.

i will check with zane on it. it looks good on the site, but it makes sense that it wouldn't flow as much up top like the H2E would. thanks guys

i think it uses h2 ex housings so changing the housing may make enough air. what about a gt38r??

i gotta find me a gt4209 or hx50 for the sequentials!!

jake, the qssb is s300 based... From what ive seen it supports similar hp as the 38r drop in turbo. there's no way id pay that much for a turbo that small, when a drop in is half the price and does just as much.

The S300 is definitely too small. I have a built s400 on the bench and its about the same as the hx50 in size before it was built.

The baby cummins comes with the 35 stock and the 40 in the HO. Your 50 is coming from the lower end M11's and older L10's. There is a pretty good jump between the 50 and 55 IMHO. The 55 is pretty common on your mid-large M11's.

If I may say so, the H2e and stage II's make a darn nice setup. I have the modded H2e and 6.0 cooler with beans 3" intakes. It has a bit of lag but that works well for me, cause I tow and not race. It spools at about 2000 RPM and you better be holding on when it does. Very fun truck to drive, especially with 4.10 gears.

hmmm. Neal, you have 180cc sticks correct? i have 3.55 gears so how much more lag do you think i would be looking at if i went with 160's with the modded H2E with my 3.55's? oh yeah and how much did the 180's run you? i may see if Jim can make me some 180's...

The 180's were the same price as his stage II's just machined a bit more. I don't think the gears have that much to do with the lag. You will just be at a faster speed than I am when you spool. The lag is not bad at all. I hardly notice it. Thing is that when I accelerate it goes fast and the all of a sudden WHAM I am screaming. Most time I gotta let out of it cause it will launch me a few places further up in traffic than I want to be.
