On my property I have a 200 foot mud strip. I had one of my buddies over that has a old 4 cylinder jeep cherokee and we went out to the strip to drag. I raced him 4 times and lost every time. I have a 4 speed that is geared low it seems. I couldnt even get off the line. I tried 1 gear no rev. 2nd gear mid rev, 2nd gear no rev. every time I just had uncontrollable wheel spin. I have open country MT's on the back but the torque seems to overpower the traction of the back wheels. even in 4 low it will sit there. any tips to how I can bet him? Am I doing something wrong. His jeep should be easy to beat.
combination of all those things. get some boggers air them down to 10 - 15 psi and run it the highest gear that you wont kill it on the line. and the locker would help alot too.
Is the front pulling correctly, because you should come off the line fairly quick. Also, I know most everyone is saying wider tires, but we race dirt/mud drags and horseshoe mud races and use taller narrow tires. Ours are 7.50-16 co-ops and we don't overpower them, even with a high compression 429. The narrower tires will dig down and bite quicker, not sit on top and spin. A lot of this also depends on the depth and type of mud.
One of our tracks and several racing trucks were on Extreme 4x4 last Sunday morning. Part of the Spike TV Powerblock. It was neat to see our type of racing nation wide!
