I remember a Ford tech on here say he could pull up the PCM version by running the VIN. I want to know what my previous version was(prior to the 08B07 which was just done yesterday). Is this possible? Any Ford techs reading this?!?!
Can I downgrade back to that version after having the 08B07 recall done? The previous version was lightyears ahead in the regen department compared to the new one.
What about being able to tell if you have had the lastest flash? Would a Oasis report indicate this?
I was given the 08B07, but I know it was not done properly, so I really wonder if I truely got the correct flash.
The OASIS will list that 08B07 was done, but I have never seen it list the calibration that was used. I could be wrong, but the only way I know of checking the vehicles current calibration level is with the scan tool. Based on a couple of your other posts where you say that the "cleaning exhaust filter" does not continuously display during regen, I would agree that you do not have the most recent calibration like you should. The dealer probably had not updated their scan tool to the latest revision before doing your truck. I would definately be having them do it over again after they have made sure that the scan tool has been updated to the latest revision...
You should have recieved a Customer Information Sheet when the flash was done. On the sheet you will find this...
CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER
Displayed continuously when the vehicle has entered the cleaning mode. When the CLEANING EXHAUST FILTER
message is displayed, various engine actions will raise the exhaust temperature in the Diesel Particulate Filter
(DPF) system to where the exhaust filter is cleaned by burning off the particles (exhaust soot). After the particles
are burned off, the exhaust temperature will fall back to normal levels. This message is NORMAL.

phxdiesel, what are the differences you are seeing? What job # is your truck? You are the first one to report negative feedback with the new flash.
Sorry for the very late response. Dealing with work has kept me away from leisurely browsing the forum.
I have a Job#1 truck. I've been through several reflashes all due to regen problems. For most of it's life, when my truck went into regen mode, it was very noticeable. Lost quite a bit of power, and limited boost to no more than 20psi. Finally after complaining of regens occuring very often (about once every 100 miles), they flashed me again and said "you may regen more often, but let us know what you think of this code". After that point, it was very difficult to ever know when the truck was in regen. Boost was no longer limited at 20psi, there was no obvious lack of power, and from what I could tell the regens seemed to be less frequent.
This code did away with the regen at idle as well, so it was a recently new version, but it did not have the IC upgrade. But now that I did the 08B07 recall, I'm back to my old regen characteristics. I was pulling away from a red light, and I had a couple bursts of SEVERE lack of power where the pedal seemed to be nearly dead(pushing it more did not give any more power). When my truck doesn't respond to my inputs, that's an extremely bad thing. Add the lack of general power on top of that and the very noticable regens, and all I can do is remenisce of the good old days with my last flash.
