Hey all....I spend most of my time in the 1999-2003 power stroke section and have a question that might be better answered here. I recently purchased firestone air bags for the rear of my truck and am now looking for a compressor to keep them filled with and am also looking for auxillary air for bike tires and what not. I have been looking at the firestone 2239 does anyone have any experience with that one, or have other suggestions as to what to use. Any guidance will be greatly appreciated........thank you........Kevin
I use a Viair 360C compressor. 100% duty rated at 200psi. They can be had off Ebay for $125-$150.
Installed it under the passenger side cab, outside the frame. 5Gal storage tank with 150# switch (shut pump off at 150psi turns it on at 120psi), mounts under the bed, outside the frame, just ahead of the right rear fender well.
I mounted a couple of air line quick disconnects. I carry a cheap tight coil air line under the back seat. I use it for my air bags, truck & trailer tires and my train horns ;-) I've had this system installed over 2 years with no problems.
Thanks for the input guys...I was really at a loss on what to do. The 2239 from firestone was the only thing I was able to come up with so far. Now all I have to do is get one ordered and paid for before the wie knows anything about it.
2x on the Siege sets. Got the above for $180 delivered. Their product line is constantly being changed if you don' see what you want today give them a week and they will have something else in the same line. They sometimes offer a set with a 5 gal. air tank and two pumps foe less than $300. I mounted the above on my tow truck.
It's more work, but could be cheaper and more versatile: install a York A/C compressor under the hood. It should be enough air to even run some real air tools. Do a search for "on board air" and some pages will come up; it's a popular project for 4-wheelers.
How about some pictures of your compressor installs. I have bags on my truck already and have a compressor waiting to be installed. No air tank or horns. I just need ideas on where and how to install it.
