PCM programming:
....newby here, mates. My 97 F150 has a 4.6L/4R70W combination essentially identical to the 4.6L/AODE in my 94 Lincoln Town Car. The truck empty weighs a few hundred pounds more than the Lincoln and the rear axle ratios are close, 3.55/235/70R16 truck vs 3.08/215/70R15 LTC.
I don't use the truck for hauling or towing so I see no need to have the transmission programming set so that shift changes at light throttle begin near 2000-2500rpm. The programming in the TC gives light-throttle gear changes around 1000-1500rpm, much more comfortable particularly when the engine/tran is cold.
So, here's the question: Can the PCM in the truck be reprogrammed with the strategies used in a 97 Lincoln TC? I know a dealer can't do it due to EPA (ugh!) limitations, but can the program really be changed, and, if so, by what means?
I HIGHLY suggest talking to Troyer Performance for your tuning. You can find them at Troyer Performance

They know these trucks better than anyone.
