i want a deep tone for my 93 f150. i was told to put flowmaster 40's on it. my friend wanted me to buy 35" glasspacks but then was told that it wouldnt make a deep tone. i was wantin to redo the whole exhaust system. i was goin to earn enough money to put elderbrock headers with a 2.5" outlet to go with my 2.5" pipe. then i was goin to take out both cats out and run the flowmasters i think. if anybody has a different opinion please speak up cause i want an nice deep tone. i got 2.5 pipe with a Y pipe and 4"tips strait out the back.
[updated:LAST EDITED ON 30-Apr-02 AT 08:23 PM (EST)]Dude I have had both, a 89 with glass packs and a 98 with flowmasters. The 89 had short glass packs on it but it sounded real good, very loud but good to me and I got a lot of compliments. I had 40 series flowmasters on my 98 and I really liked them better but both sounded good to me. Just a personal opinion though but I really dig the flowmasters more and would go with them over glasspacks, but that is just my take on it.
I agree. Most glass packs (except for Dynomax Magnum Race, and Magnalow round mufflers) use louvered cores which do rob you of power. A chambered muffler could actually produce some more power, but for the maximum power you would want a preforrated core straight through muffler such as the Dynomax Magnum race or the Magnaflow. There are also some other companies that make good preforrated core straight through mufflers.
