Agreed. Nothing worse than working hard for something only to have some piece of scum lower than a toilet tick come along and take it. Hope they get strung up too, Chase.

EDIT: On the other hand, your name *IS* Chase -- ask Congress for a bail-out!!!

Chase,

Best of luck getting it fixed. One of the things I am paranoid about. Come to think of it, one of the many

As of right now we should be off the hook for whatever money the theif has withdrawn, we are just waiting until tomorrow for the transactions to post and the bank fraud dept. to do its investigation. I called the county PD and they sent someone right out to ask the questions they needed. I think we are incredibly lucky that we caught it so soon- I was on the phone with the bank as transactions were being posted! Our accounts are now locked so no more $ can be removed, tomorrow we should know which ATM was used to withdraw the cash and hopefully can catch the miserable SOB on tape. I'm going to buy some ammo before I go home and keep the pistol loaded from now on. I never figured this would have happened in a community of 3,000 people. What makes it worse is that we live on a rural road with only about 8 houses on our road, so we are pretty sure its one of the neighbors. Garage full of tools, dirt bike, snowmobiles, house renovation goods... I guess only stealing our bank cards is the best thing that could have happened!

I've had this happen to me twice in the last 3 years, and it SUCKS!!! Thankfully the banks and credit card companies really worked with us. We ended up getting everything back, it just took a couple of weeks and several phone calls. I just want to wish you good luck and I know how you feel!

That's why I never signed up for Paypal. When they asked for my checking account info, I decided I didn't want any part of that. My credit card lets me generate a new account number for each online purchase, that is only good for a very short time, and only at the one merchant I made the purchase from. That way if someone steals the card #, they can't do anything with it.

Chase, the reason the local PD was so eager to talk to you about this, is due to the little fact that ATM's have cameras in them. My guess is they already have a warrant (which probably isn't even necessary) to view the videos from the ATM's so they can get a picture of one of those 3000 people in your town.

Keep us posted when they catch the guy/gal

Now just how are we supposed to know if this is really you?

If they're are using your card, the is no reason not to catch them. Time stamped withdrawals and time stamped video. Sorry it happened to you, went through it with some credit cards a couple years ago and it is a real PITA to get straighted out. Good luck with this.

It might not be your neighbors. I lived in a small town and one of the mail carriers went to jail for stealing credit cards in the mail.
