has anyone ever used the dp tunner chip?? i was wondering if it has any neg or pos its a little cheaper then edge/bullydog chips thanks for the info....
I don't use it (Tony Wildman for me) But DP other than Tony is the only other chip I recommend. Top notch way better than bully puppy, edge, superchip, banks or TS
Like Tim says, DP and TW are the only ones I would EVER recommend. I run a DP tuner and love it. Jody and Diane are fantastic to deal with and have excellent customer satisfaction. You can't call Bullydog, Superchips, etc and talk directly to the person who made it. With DP and TW, you can. And it's specificly set up for your truck to make the most bang for the buck. Not to mention you get to pick your settings. It's not off the shelf. Definatly do a DP or TW and forget the others, they don't compare in the Power Stroke world.
I had an edge prior to a DP Tuner and the difference in the way the truck operates is so much better. I will never change anything else. Plus customer service is great
We all have our tuner preferences, but we can't forget Bill Cohron at PHP. Bill's the guy that basiclly got these other guys going years back. To say he knows Power Stroke tuning is a vast understatement.
I just got a chip from Bill last week for my '97 with Stage-1's. I like Bill's tuning 10000% better than DP Tuner's, and it's been a while since I ran Tony's on my '97. But I am scheduled to hit the dyno and test all 3 and compare.
DP Tuner has a great selection of high tech switches and their service has always been top notch for me. I highly recommend them. Their tunes were very smoky with higher EGT's than what I see from PHP now.
Tony (Total Diesel Performance) uses the **** style switch, offers free re-burns (I think he still does) and to date has the best tuning for my Black truck with all the mods I have done to it, and of all the chips I have tried so far (3 total, not including PHP yet.) Tony does tuning on the side because he likes it and he's very good at it, but it might take some patience to get in touch with him. Full time job and family come first.
Bill at PHP (Power Hungry Performance) offers the **** style switch at a very reasonable cost and is also great to work with. Bill tuned some of the highest Power Strokes around going back 6 to 7 years ago before he went to work for Edge. Edge, by the way, was consulting bill for tuning the new F-150's.
Just thought I'd throw that out there.
Oh, and DON'T bother with Edge, Bully Dog, Banks, or any other off-the-shelf chip. Give one of these guys a call!
