clutch problems
I have 97 f150 4.6 liter 4x4, and the clutch has a really low release point and kind of makes a squeling nosie when i first start out. Wondering if its the master cylinder. Is this a job for the shop to do? And how much is its going to cost? Thanks.

Sounds like to me it's time for a clutch replacement. The squealing most likely comes from steel rubbing against steel from the clutch material being worn off.
At least that's what I think!

Like DD said.... could be the disc is shot , could be the slave/throwout bearing , could be pilot bearing , etc. Unlesss you have a garage , a good tool box , floor jack , a shop manual , mechanically inclined , and a weekend to do it.... I'd take it to a shop. I did a clutch in my friends F250 4x4 last week and it cost right at 400.00 for parts.(Luk Clutch Set , Clutch Master Cylinder , Clutch Slave Cylinder , misc other goodies) A shop I'd bet you'd be lucky to get out with a grand in it.
