no, i haul in covers... no smoke on the bikes...
but smoke on the covers and whatever is in the bed is a big deal... thats why i wanna think about it a bit... might be a pain in the butt...

Theres nothing wrong with a gasser at all, they have their place among trucks. Go take a gas truck for a test drive, then go take a diesel. You will see right away what most of us are talking about here!

See if you can wipe that smile off of your face for the rest of the day too!

yeah... already done that one... took one out for 500 miles and a full 8 hour day... a F-150 and an f-250...
i have taken a 6.0 and a 7.3 out as well... i like the 7.3better... seemed to have more torque...

7.3 maxed out at 525lb-ft (and 250HP) in '03 and the 6.0 started with somewhere between 535-550lb-ft (and peaked at 650lb-ft in '07) and 325HP. If both vehicles were stock the reason the 7.3 felt stronger is that you get max torque at 1600rpm and the 6.0 gets max torque around 1800-2000rpm...

IMHO the 6.0 is more the hot rod and the 7.3 is more the mule...

It sounds like a 5.4 or 6.8 gas SD would make the most sense for you. The cost difference between diesel and gas will be at least a couple of thousand bucks and the smarter you spend your funds at this stage in life, the better shape you'll be in as you journey though life. For the uses that you stated, a diesel just wouldn't make any sense.

but would the fuel econ. or the life span be worth it??
cause im hopin for a truck that gonna last me for at least 10 years...lol
i dont wanna have to buy another one untill i am good enough to go buy one and keep this one... since it may have collector value at some point, since it IS an 03 with a 7.3... last year of that body, and motor...lol
and its lariat...
i know the diesel is more money right now, but what about long run?
am i makin any sense???

Gassers can be had for dirt cheap but you wouldn't be happy I have drove gasser F-250s at work and they are pretty dang gutless. THe 08 that we had with just two tool boxes maybe 700 pounds in the bed wouldn't even break the tires lose on wet ground even power braking it.

???? what???? that's just depressing!!!!! lol
nah...cant do that...
sounds like the only way to get gut-wrenchin power and 20=mpgs is with the greasy fuel...lol
as of right now, unless a couple dozen die hard gasser guys come in, im goin to buy that 03 on march 1... maybe sooner, depending on when i get the taxes back...lol

I have a 350PSD and the wife has a F150. Both Crew Cabs, both 2001s. Mine is a 4x4, hers is not. I like them both. Hers gets better mileage than mine (4.6), but when we bought them, diesel was less than a dollar a gallon. We have taken both on long trips. The PSD is far more comfortable on long trips if you can believe that. Bigger, and I guess the seats are just better too.

Now her truck could pull my boat, but not like the PSD does. For motorcycles in the bed, I don't think the gasser will care that much that they are back there. You're just not going to get one in the back of a F150 CC without the tailgate down. Same goes for my ATV which my PSD gobbles up with room for a tree stand too, tailgate closed.

I like both trucks. They both do what they were designed to do quite well if you ask me. I have never had one leave us stranded. Knocks on wood.

yeah, and with tailgate down... no more stuff in the bed... no ramps to haul bike...lol so thats no good...

i see nothing wrong with the gassers, i just dont think its gonna fit my needs/wants... i NEED a truck... i WANT a hell of a truck...lol

speakin of which, can someone PM me some info on a DP tuner... i will be lookin to do that asap after purchase... first will be 6637 and exhaust. then DP... i just wanna know a little about it first, and how much they run. as well as how much they really help... thanks!!

YOU said --i really like diesel, but as i said, i dont need it... i just wonder if im gonna regret it soon after purchase... i know there are many other factors to think of, i have most of those, this is the only thing i have left... deciding what kind of fuel i want...lol Well look at this would you rather change eight spark plugs or eight injectors when the time comes due? Oil changes cost more for the diesel right. No more than you are going to do with the truck go GASOLINE. If you decide to get all the toys to haul then go diesel for sure.

Slow down, grasshopper. You will need gauges too. You sound like you may be mod happy. If so, you may want to find a truck with forged rods, not an 02 or 03. I make right at 400 to the back wheels with mine, and I have powdered rods. I am about done with go faast mods because of this.

Consider an older truck that may already have some of the mods you want. DP is located at DP-Tuner.com. Something like that. Google it and read up. Heck, they are a sponsor and the link is right at the top of the page.

If you go withw a diesel you won't regret it. I have a 250 and i really don't need it at all, i mean i tow a boat every once in a while. I just love having a diesel.
