Dang I was expecting some real good carnage. I broke a motor mount once because I got mad at my 87 (forgot why now that I'm thinking about it) and just punched the crap out of it and the rear end started to burn out, but then it got wheel hop and the entire truck started shaking like crazy, then pop, both motor mounts were trashed.
LOL.......thats a hoot.....Dean...you just made my day!
That came apart on a 2-3 shift on my 6.9 pig... The yoke broke, not the U-joint...
Those little 1330 joints just aren't made to handle any real amount of power though, I've gotten as little as 250 miles of towing out of them, probably would have been fine with the stock non turbo 6.9, especially considering I never had issues before I turboed it, but it chewed them up left right and center after I did. When I put it back on the road it's getting 1410's like my Dodge has on the rear shaft.
I'm suprised your truck being an 88 and a big block has the small u-joints, that's right about where they switched the 460 and diesel trucks over to 1350's and the stupid strap type yokes.

I try, I try
Its funny now, but then it was real hard to try to explain to Dad how I managed to break both motor mounts at once. But I remember why I was so mad at my 87, I had a rat chew my wiring harness and my fuel pump would randomly stop, and it did it to me 5 times in a matter of just a few minutes, so when I finally got it to fire up again, I gave her hell and, well the rest is just a funny story (now anyway)
It has all spicer joints. Well, it is a wheelin' truck. Just not as hardcore as most people.
However! I'm buying a toyota camry for gas mileage from a buddy of mine. Really cheap. So now I think i'm going to jack this up. I need to buy new front tires, why not buy bigger tires in general?
I run GMB joints on my intermediate shaft and my rear shaft and I havent had any problems with them yet. I have had some good axle hop and they held up with 33s and a 485 ft tq motor.
