For those of you with some sort of product that allows you to run the engine and let the turbo cool down, how long is enough?
I am using the Edge Juice Platinum and i have my run down time set for 5 minutes after key is off. is this enough or do i need more time?
Just trying to get a general concensus of what everyone else is doing. this is a large investment for me and as a paraplegic my living expenses are high enough i dont need anymore.
I go more by the EGTs than time. I don't shut mine down after hard pulls until the EGTs drop to 350 degrees F or lower. I only do this when I'm doing heavy towing or just exit the Interstate after higher speed driving. I find that I don't have to worry for in town driving.
My experience is that 5 minutes of idling would be more than enough. I find that 2 to 3 minutes is usually enough on mine.
Yeah, the book says 5 minutes - should be good and cool by then after about any type of driving. I go by temp too - 300 for me, not much more than 2 minutes even after the hardest pull. usually under a minute. little extra time won't hurt anything.

What book? I have an EGT gauge and it is about 400 by the time I am at the spot where I want to park. Unless you are doing a quarter mile run, I would simply take it easy when you are near where you are and by the time you get ready to get out, it is probably going to be about 300-350 which is fine for shutdown.
