Just purchased my first ford truck F-150 supercab xlt 2006. After numerous problems with my 06 silverado (blown trans at 40k, steering problems and blowing coils among other things) I have lost confidence in it and got rid of it before it became a money pit with a payment) So far I love this ford pickup, its much tighter than the chevy and has a more heavy duty feel. Looking for any advice or tips on this truck and maintaining it properly. There were no recalls on it but a ton of tsb's. The truck has 32 k and still covered under orginal warranty. Does the dealer haver to resolve the tsb's under warranty? Anything I should know or have the dealer check before warranty runs out?Power train covered to 100k and that feels good. Any input or help will be greatly appreciated.
I am a first time ford owner myself. The 2006 f 150's did have a recall. It was for brake booster vacum hose replacenment. (manufacturer campaign number 08S05) Have your dealer run the standard claims list for your truck to see if has been taken care of. I just bought a 06 150, had the list run and it was fixed. Good luck with your truck. So far I am impressed with mine.
I don't own an F150 but as you can see in my sig I do own several other Ford's. Seen this thread title on the open forum and decided I'd drop a hey to the new Ford guys.
As Deluxe05 stated; Welcome Aboard, but I'll add, to the best site this side of anywhere.
Check out the "Recalls/TSBs" on your toolbar dropdown menu. You will find all of them. I found it to be a wealth of information. Even though mine is way out of warranty, it helps a lot with the troubleshooting.
Congrats on your new Ford.
Welcome to FTE Jim. You may want to look into an extended warranty. We have a member here on FTE who can write you a ESP for a good price.

PM me your phone number and I'll have Troy contact you tomorrow. Or you can call him at 1.413.773.5455 between 10AM and 8PM Eastern time.
Troy does handle the Ford 7 year 200,000 mile ESP.
TSB's are only covered under warranty IF the truck is displaying the problem....example....rear slider windows have a tendency to make noise....there is a tsb...but the dealer is only going to fix it if your trucks actually making noise....many of the tsb's don't affect most peoples trucks....
If you have a 5.4 engine...it might be worth looking into a spark plug change as thats about the most common problem....if you search on here you'll find that the champion plugs will remedy the problem...and since your at such low mileage...they should come out easily yet at this point....
So my 05 F150 5.4 has 18K miles on it, I have seen many opinions on when the spark plugs should be changed. Some say wait til 100K, and some say do it around 30 or 40K so you can get them out. Is there any definitive answer on this? The manual says 100K so I'm leaning towards that, unless there is a prob with one.

i would say do it early like ryan said...that way you can still get them out then you dont break them off or worse yet cant get them out or pay the dealer to do it and thats like takeing 6 years pay just for them to look at it...thats just my 2 cents

Jim,
Did you purchase a Ford ESP extended warranty with your truck? If not, you may want to consider it. If you have an issue with the spark plugs, the warranty will pay for the additional work in addition to many other problems you may have down the road. There is a FTE sponsor that sells Ford ESP plans at a discount for FTE members. Here is the link and phone number. Go to this website www.forddiscountwarranty.com or call 413-772-0989.
Thanks for the comebacks guys and the good wishes. I like this Ford so much we traded in my wifes malibu for a milan and she absolutely loves it!. As far as the spark plug issue goes I already discussed it with the dealer. The service manager said as long as you do a induction cleaning before replacing the plugs there shouldn't be a problem. His price for both was 200 dollars which I thought was reasonable.I went one step further and spoke with a tech at the dealer and he told me that the older trucks were the ones with the problem and I shouldn't worry about it. I did speak with troy on the extended warranty but just can't afford it so I hope my luck holds and the 100 thousand power train will suffice. Bumper to bumper is about to expire, ANYTHING i need to wory about? We are done with general motors for life after experienceing the obvious better build quality of these Fords.
