ok thanx guys i just think i might have put to thick of a shim in..how thick should i go??

You realy do need to use a gauge to do it right. If you get the pressure to high, debateable but around 75 psi or so, it will adversly effect performance.

because of the spring age, use, etc each setup although similar will be different. its best to start small and build up. use different screws. if oyur seal is leaking or blowing out because to much pressure then you cant tell the pressure.
if i was doing mine again id start just smaller than the width of a dime for a reference. then only a few thou bigger, untill i got to about 75psi.

ok like i said i was at right about the width of a nickel and it just kept popping that oring right out of the lid...

they are very sensative. the dime width might be more than enough.

ok i'll even go less than a dime just to be safe...now does it matter what side you put the shim on?? like what side of the spring?? the cap side?? or where it goes into that brass sleeve on that end??

it only makes a difference because putting it at the base, in the housing keeps it from falling out, not really a concern when its all together, and away from the valve end allows the valve to move with the spring uninterfered (sp?)

ok and another ? what would you recomend (sp) using?? i grinded a screw hear down pretty good last time like what did you use?? and what have other people used??
