My friends 01 just lost a half a tank of fuel in three miles a minute ago! he info'd me that fuel sprayed out fast and it comes from a line that goes thru the engine valley to the back of the passenger side head.he said there is a bracket that the line had vibrated on just at the back of the head and wore a hole in it any suggestions???
That's the line between the bowl & head. You could take the opportunity to replace both with one size larger for better flow later (if he's interested), or get a replacement line from the dealer.
I'm thinking dealer only, but could be wrong. There are a couple site sponsors you could check with: Dino Fuel Alternatives or ITP Diesel. Maybe a couple others. But those two make kits for the fuel system and may be able to help with a couple replacements.
You know, depending where it is, you might be able to fix it with a piece of regular rubber fuel line. Cut the bad section out, put the rubber piece in, and double hose clamp both sides.

Excellent suggestion but I would call it a temporary fix. Make sure you use fuel injection rated hose 30R9 (it would be 1/4" for that line).
I had that line go also, I still have a new factory fuel line. I did the temporary fix with a piece of rubber FI hose and drove it that way for awhile. I then modified the fuel system so I never used the part. I think they run about $50. I will let it go cheap if your friend is interested. The Part number is F81Z-9B273-BN. If that's the part and your friend wants one cheap, send me a message.

Me too, temporary for as long as it does not leak again. This is the second one of those in as many days. This item might bear some inspection by folks who still have the stock lines.
My leak was caused by an electrical ring connector that came loose and rubbed on the fuel line until it wore through. Everyone should keep a bit of hose and a few clamps for fixes. Those lines are notorious for leaking, usually from corrosion or rubbing against something, everyone should take a look!
I had one go also ,but its good to know they can be repaired.
I towed my truck 75 miles to the dealer because I didnt know what I needed or where the fuel was coming from.
It was still running good but I didnt think it was a good idea to keep driving it.
