I have done a search and found numerous postings on the factory DVD players. The EX I am looking at purchasing from a local Ford dealer has the system removed for security issues. There are a few connectors hanging down. The console containing the rear HVAC, DVD and Screen is removed exposing the roof/headliner. The console spans the width of the rear. How do I know if this unit is the wireless headset version or not. There is a panel located on the center console that contains controls and plug-ins for headsets. The salesman was not very knowledgeable as to exactly what was removed. So I want to ensure when purchased, I get the correct equipment reinstalled.
Don't worry, it has wireless headsets, but if they are actually with the vehicle is something you should check on.
The plug-ins on the center console is a feature on the Excursions that allows the rear seat passengers to listen to a different audio source from the front seat passengers. For example, you can listen to the radio in the front through the Excursion's speakers and the rear passengers can listen to CDs through headphones plugged into the jacks.

Following that message... driving I can listen to the speakers, the rear passengers can use the wireless OR wired headsets, and the 3rd row passengers can use the wireless.
The driver can listen to a radio or CD, and the rear people can watch a DVD or CD.
I expect to recieve no less than 2 wireless headsets...

I'm not certain if you can listen to three sources at the same time.

Thats what you should expect. The entertainment system came with 2 wireless headphones.
I believe that all factory dvd players had the wireless feature. Mine does (2005) so does my fathers (2000) and also my brothers (2004) with the exception that the dealer took my brothers out also, when they put it back in, they put in wrong radio. when brother complained they told him it was not factory, he called me. I work at the plant where they were built , had the vin ran. determined it was factory. dealership was upset they had to purchase new radio to fix problem. also his ex was used and not new. so check it out carefully.
unknown what the reason was, thats what they told my brother. and i also believe that all factory installed dvd player were wireless and should have come from the factory with 2 wireless headphones.
