Hey Guys,
Every Time I Mention Something About Replacing My 292 V8 With A 12v Cummins In My 1960 F500 No One Will Respond. I Do Realize This Is A Ford Site, But You Gotta Admitt That The 12v Cummins Is A Good Motor. And Cummins Is There Own Company, They Just Let Dodge Put It In There Pickups. Also Does'nt Ford Own Some Of Cummins Anyway? At Least Thats The Rumor Im Sure Everyone Has Been Told At Least Once.
You might try starting this thread down in the 1960's related forum. This is mainly the general Superduty forum.
As far as the swap, I think it'd be great. Many people on FTE have done Cummins conversions in their trucks. It's very doable and a great idea. Head to the forum that deals with your year of trucks and you'll have more input.
Everyone In My Own Year Wont Talk To Me. Possibly Cuz They Are Older, And Dont Like Hot Rodders Like Me. Not Only That, But I Think They Think Bringing This Old Girl Up To Times With The Cummins Is Wrong
It's not wrong at all. Customizing is an artform and if most of those guys stopped to think about it, even their restored trucks have some customization done to them! The Cummins is an extremely reliable workhorse and it can be retrofitted with some imagination and creativity.
I say prove those guys wrong and show them an older truck that's done right!!
Thats What Im Talkin About. I See You're From Great Falls. Im Down In Gillette, Wy. I Need An Nv4500 Tranny Rebuild. I Have A Core But Its Shot. Nothing More Than A Core. Do You Have Any Good Rebuild Shops Up There? If So Please Let Me Know.
If you post, and you don't get any answers, chances are you aren't waiting long enough.
Some of the forums don't get much traffic and it might be a week or even more before someone comes along who might have any information for you, or even to joke around with you
