Ok, so i thought about doing the fpr shim mod, took it apart did it nothing changed so took it out, put it all back together, drove truck next day about 200km on the highway, smell of diesel in cab, so got home checked what i had been tampering with and bit of fuel there, so i tightened losened it and retightened it back on, bam it snapped off, flush in the fittin on the fuel line so cant even get it off!! heres the questions
1. can i cut my fuel line and use a rubber fuel line rated to the proper psi? due to the fact low on cash and thats one hell of a big fuel line to remove.
2. how much does the part i broke cost? or better yet the name of it?
Thanks, all help is appreciated
Dan
i would play with an easy-out to get the fitting out of the line..them lines will set ya back 100 bucks if you go stock..the reg on the bowl can be found with some of our sposors listed above...id look for you..but im not quite sure if thats the fitting your looking for...
Thanks, but an easy out is no god the way it broke its between the actual line and the fitting I did try for hours, now the part I probley will grab at my local ford store cause I'm a student hope they can understand my explaining for I still don't know the part name? And my main concern is the fuel line, can I not cut and add a chunk of a rubber fuel line rated to 100psi? I don't see why that wouldn't work?
thanks for all the help, i did end up getting the part labeled #8-10 on the diagram above, and i cut and spliced the fuel line, did all proper steps, apparently its a common brake on these trucks, part costs around 100$ cdn from ford, auto wrecker dint know what it was and i gave him 10 and was proud of it, all in all 22.77 cdn later i was happy.
the threads of the actual part broke off flush in the fitting and no way an easy out could have removed it, even after i cut it off, thanks alot for the input again
glad you got her fixed...i dont know where you are or how cold it was when you did this..if it was cold...you may want to re tighten the clamps when she is all nice and hot..them fuel lines are pretty stiff when there cold..
ya im up in northern bc/canada cold spill is comming in again so i will when i go back home in 2 weeks, doing some school at the moment so its hard to fix problems like this away from home, thanks though
