first off it's a FLARESIDE. stepside is a chevy term.

1979 was the last year for the dentsides. I don't know if Ford made longbed flaresides after the dentside era any more or not.

check the swap meet or the classifieds if you want to buy one.

here are some pics of some.

1973 F350

1975 F250

1977 F150

1979 F150

1979 was the last year of the 8' flaresides.

And a 1973-1979, 8' flareside is Rare, to say the least.

I saw one in a junkyard years ago, and mabye one or to on the road in the last 8 years. I got lucky and found in in new york state a few years ago, taken off the day the guy bought the truck new and stored in a warehouse since new. It's dissassembled in my shed right now.

Ford also made a 9' flareside bed for the F-350 before 1973.

Don't get those confused with the 8' beds.

Don't confuse rare with desirable. The 8 footers mostly likely are rare because they never sold very well . I doubt it was due to the extra expense of buying one.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-comfficeffice" /><o></o>
