ok update.... when i started it up and put it in reverse it clunked then stalled out.... sooo i assume i killed the tranny witch makes me think that the tranny i got was like sitting on the rack for a while
well, are you sure linkage is ajusted correcty? Does truck runs forward? May be you really have bad reverse band and it is bad becouse to change it you need disassembly tranny fully. I remember a time when I draw aero w/o reverse for more then a year
jk080 your tag makes me think that you could help me the most ya think i killed it? as it stands right now i came down staires this mornin and it looked like alot of my fluid was all over the floor.....
just lifted the rear and let it run for 20 minutes until it got hot and put it in drive.... nothing ....
i think i bought a bad tranny..... i guess im gonna call the place i got it from they have another in the same truck as mine ( the one i wanted) and get it changed out for the other..... one ( but this time!!!!!!!!!!!! im gonna make them do the work!!!!!)
i can do lift kits and ect.. on most trucks but that trannys a mother... just where the exaust is and all that
Check the fluid level with the engine off, remember where it is on the stick. Then start the engine and check the fluid level, if it dropped you know the pump is working.
i think over flow....... not sure i looked under neath and it was coming out of the back not the tail just about where the over flow is also was coming from around the dip stick uhhh hose thing but thats because of the funnel i was useing ill uhh try what you said tho
mhmm every things right like i said when i went from part to reverse i heard something clunk then the motor shut off ( same thing it did when the first tranny died
no it olny did it once... witch leads me to belive i killed the tranny ( or it was about dead when i got it) a 1991 ford ranger 3.0 (3 bolt starter) xlt super cab 2x4
If its full of fluid and still no go it will have to come back out.
Do you remember if the input shaft was in the new unit, they can fall out.
Did you replace the converter too? They can strip.
Make sure it holds in park, if it rolls the rear end could be broke. I have had this come into the shop. The customer installed a new unit and it still didnt move, it was a broken pinion shaft. Just a thought.
