well, are you sure linkage is ajusted correcty? Does truck runs forward? May be you really have bad reverse band and it is bad becouse to change it you need disassembly tranny fully. I remember a time when I draw aero w/o reverse for more then a year

Are you sure that you had the converter all the way in the trans when it was installed?

Check the fluid level with the engine off, remember where it is on the stick. Then start the engine and check the fluid level, if it dropped you know the pump is working.

Where did all the fluid come from?

I must have missed the part that the engine died, does it still kill the engine?

Does it die immediately or slowly shut off?

What is the year and model?

If its full of fluid and still no go it will have to come back out.

Do you remember if the input shaft was in the new unit, they can fall out.

Did you replace the converter too? They can strip.

Make sure it holds in park, if it rolls the rear end could be broke. I have had this come into the shop. The customer installed a new unit and it still didnt move, it was a broken pinion shaft. Just a thought.
