OK everyone, -5 this morning and 8 year old batteries (motorcrafts) finally crapped out. I feel they lasted way longer than normal and will replace them with the same on Monday, anyone have any suggestions on an alternate brand for a little less $$ ? I have no idea what the new motorcrafts are going to cost at the stealership. Not looking for the same performance just don't want to get into buying new ones a few years from now again. Anything special that I have to do other than just unhook the old ones and install the new? I recall someone recommending that you unhook and install the left side first.. don't really remember. Thanks in advance.
119 cold hard cash . mine puked also you were better than mine i got 2 years on mine . i went with an interstate mtp 65 1000 /850 cca 85 pro rated . ranks my truk over way better than the factory batt did. 125 plus tax
id second the interstate.
i have interstate in my 97 and i tell it cranks better and i can crank on it longer then my 95 with everstart batteries from wallmart. both brands of batterys are rated for 1000/850 CCA
Mitch
I needed new batteries last year and since I hate lead connectors I decided to go a little different route. Some Group 31 batteries with stud terminals and 1125 CCA each. I think there is even one bigger battery available. A few other here have gone this route and like them. They fit but its close and you have to change the ends of you cables.
Got Duralasts at Autozone this summer. They were recommended by others on this site. Got them for a little over 100 and they have a 3 year free replacement warranty. They prorate them after the three years up to eight. Been getting down to just a few degrees around here for a while now and the truck starts right up. You might want to give them a try.
O yea, if you get the batts at Autozone they will enter your name in the computer so if you have any problems you don't have to try to dig up a receipt three years latter.
2 sets of Autozone Gold batteries for 2 diff. trucks, then I got a set from Wal-Mart for another truck, all are great batteries as far as I'm concerned. Wal-Mart was a bit cheaper from what I recall...
Having said that, my current truck has Interstate (came with the truck) and have heard great things about them.
And I know many guys have replaced with Motorcraft from Ford, and price was surprisingly competitive.
Hey Tim, what's that solenoid next to the battery for?
motorcrafts aint 79.95 priced them three days ago 650 was 105 and the hd was 120 . of course all were subjet to tax also . ive run interstate for years, they are great batteries .also for the reord the batt is stamped with build date on side . there is no need for reciept on interstates either . i was told this by the dearlership i buy my stuff from . again i only got 2 years out of my fomo batterie. ill see if they will give me a new one later this week . Im not holding my breath though !
