I'm new to the PSD or any diesel for that matter. I just bought a 2004 F250 CrewCab 4x4 with 84,000 miles on it. Already has 4" exhuast and the converter is gone. Question is about the EGR. Where is it. How hard is it to delete and how does it effect emissions testing. And will this help with the head gasket demon that seems to haunt these trucks. Trying to elimnate problems before they occur. Thanks
Do your research on this forum, there are several threads about EGR, Egr cooler issues, delete.
The EGR cooler failure could be one of the issue, what blows the HG, but just because you delete it, doesn't mean you won't have HG problems. Most commonly the high boost lifts the heads because of the weak, stretchy head bolts.
The 6.0L uses a Variable Geometry Turbo. This means that the turbo has vanes that adjust to give you more or less boost as your computer deems appropriate. When the vanes stick, you can overboost whether you are tuned or not.
