Did My manifold Gaskets

Started it at 7 am this morning. No studs broke I sprayed every stud last night Let it sit over night. Drove 6-miles to my bosses shop this morning (Heated its 3 deg's outside) SO i spray everything again... Start working on it..Left side (drivers) Pull the old ones out put new ones in. Change oil all done by 10:45. Go to start it... Leaking worse this time..So i shut the motor off really quick. So i look at it again. take it back apart and i seen the frt gasket was pinched so i changed it again. Frt two nuts and studs took an hr to do.. Any how put it all back together for the 2'nd time and it still leakes but not as bad... Re tightened everything while motor was running. Better But i think my manifold is warped So i'm going to order one and do it again. But all in all it wasen't a bad job. Need some other thoughts.

i need todo mine also, but waiting for summer when it's warm, so the job wasnt to bad to do?, did i read somewhere that you have a body lift? (or do i have the wrong person) if so did that make it easier to get to the bolts/nuts,

thanks

is doubling up the gaskets a no-no?? just a thought, something to try. you'd be able to tighten the nuts tighter, (so to speak) and with more material there to compress, it might work...

i think FTE ken posted some headers that had 3/8ths flanges on them. they looked real sharp and being milled like that might not warp so bad??

Mine was in the shop after getting a new engine. (if you remember my post) They wound up replacing both of the manifolds, and then scraped the shiite out of my leather seat starting/stopping while checking for leaks. I was beyond p!ssed. The GM swapped mine for another 08 straight away, as it was paid off, and is paying for the VIN swap. I had to re-tint the windows, and get a new bedliner, (I went with Line-X instead of Rhino this time) but anyway, I told you it was going to be a biatch.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck with your endeavour. I too was amazed with how long it took them to replace them at a shop.

FTE Ken just installed some Dynatech headers with thick thick flanges. You are already in there, maybe some shorty headers or new manifolds are in order since it seems your stockers are bent

I'll bet that trailer is the reason why. I know a guy on another forum who is on his 4th or 5th set of manifolds by now. but he spends alot of time playing on the dunes

It's identical to my other one, including being an 08. It does have the reverse sensing and backup camera though, which is pretty cool IMO. You just back up while looking at the mirror. It was zero dollar swap. Dealer is paying for the registration and VIN swap. They made up for torquing me beyond specifications. It's funny though; I went by there yesterday and they had my truck on the lot with a new seat for 24k. The same people who offered me 11k for it a month ago. Oh well, they made things right with me in the end.

Yes i do have a body lift Witch i do think made a difference. I was able to take the tire off and it was right there. The bottom frt to bolts were very hard to do. almost an hr to do just them. I'm going to look into something. Going back to my body lift. When buying it i was skeptical. but it looks nothing like the old body lifts. It was a good move on my part. I'll let you all know the out come.
