Rear Diff. Speed Sensor Failed Again

I have a 05 F250 and since late 05 the speed sensor has become inoperable two times. Once it goes south the ABS light will always come one. i bought the first one from ford and paid $100.00. Does anyone know why it keeps failing. Is there an after-market part to replace the ford one. I dont want to waste another $100.00 on something that will keep on breaking. Any help would be appreciated.

Isn't it available from Motorcraft for $30 or so?

It might not be the sensor, it could be the wiring to the sensor.
