Don't know Richard, Will have to look on monday, as the truck isn't here at home...it's at my place of work. Saying that though, if the carb is the right one, might be easier to get hold of the pivot link after i got the carb...?
It looks like the pivot is still on your manifold but not being used with the carb that is on there now. It would be good if you have it.
Here are a couple pics that show the back of the carb. Kind of hard to get a pic from the back.
The carb on e-bay looks very similar except for the arm that the accel linkage hooks to. It appears to be longer and would require much more travel as well as being out to the right side farther.
Also you can see the linkage that changes the travel of the rod from horizontal to verticle.
First of all , i would like to say a big thanks to everyone for the warm welcome. Here goes with my first question...my carb on my 223 has the choke cable attatchment broken off....also i am missing the air cleaner fixing bracket......what would be the best way around this? try to find another 1 bbl carb ? swap the carb completely for a different model ? i've looked around for spares on this carb and it ain't looking too good..any ideas guys???
Thanks, steve
Wooooo...sorry about the size of the pic guys!!!!
Till the early '60s, the Holley 1904 family of carbs were used on the '57-'60, "Orphan Years" trucks. Now if you take a good look @ the Picture you posted, you'll see that there's this Lip Around the throat of the Carb. This is How the A/C can was Secured to the carb, as there's this round Clamp on the Base of the A/C can that was Either tighted by Hand, '54-'57 or tightened w/ a Screwdriver, '58 on. So the Later threaded, Y-Type attachment screw, that Sat inside the Throat of the carb will Not work on this style of Holley. Plus this looks like a Carter or an Autolite to me.
I've a Carter & a Holley that we can discuss you acquiring from me, PM me.
The carb on Ebay looks just like the one that came on my '60. I got it from the original owner that said it came new that way. I think the glass front makes it look pretty cool! I have seen them go well under $50 on ebay for the last couple of months. But you have to keep your eyes open!
Right Guys, took these pics today.......hopefully this will help to find out if i have the right brackets etc.....So i am looking for a holley 1904 carb like the one mentioned above. can i just buy one and use the brackets in the pics or am i still missing something? I really would love to have the original carb fitted so i can use the air cleaner aswell...thanks, steve.
