A guy in the local paper is trying to sell a 400m with 7300 miles on it
he claims it 450 hp
here is what he says it has
its bored 40 over, keith black pistons,rings rods and bearings. stailess scat crank, aluminum rockers, high flow oil pump, heads are ported, with double rate springs, comp cam, 70 gpm water pump, chrome ford valve covers, chrome oil pan, 750 double pumper holley carb, msd everything,
What is a fair price to pay for this as it is sitting on a stand and no way to hear it run or to tear it down to conferm parts.
if i were you id demand a head to be pulled of to see the condition pof the cylinder and what pistons you have, if what he sayas is right, you have good pieces there. Ask what kind of heads the engine has, cuz 2v open chambered heads are very delicate and have water pasages near the ports making them nearly imposible to port, also 450 hp with the 2v heads is quite hard-impossible.... ask also what cam was used in the build
A couple of comments:
1) 450 HP? Look at TMI's dyno tests. I doubt it.
2) I port 351 C 2V heads. You can reduce restrictions, but you can't make them racing heads.
3) Don't buy one, build one
