Hey guys. I have the parking sensors in the rear and was wondering if you can turn them off. I plow with my X and the snow builds up on them and everytime you back up....which is alot when plowing, the darn thing is going off. I have the switch on the dash to turn them off, but it wont stay off. Once you put the truck in reverse, turn the sensors off, then back to drive......the next time you put it back into reverse, you have to turn them back off.........is there a way you can keep them off?? I dont want to unhook them, as they are handy to use when im not plowing.........any help??
Thanks in advance!
I have a switch on mine that I can turn the back up sensor off, so I'm guessing you don't and I did not add the switch, I think it was factory, must be an option ??
That would be a pain plugging it in and unplugging it just when i plow. I just thought that there was a way to keep it off until you turn it bak on. I think i will install a switch on the beeper that i can just turn off when i plow.
Ah ha! That's what I was going to suggest. It would be easy enough to add a small toggle switch right inline with the speaker. You'd have to open the hatch to switch it on and off but hey...
You could probably also replace the factory one-touch switch with a toggle switch but I wouldn't know how to do that as I've never had factory reverse sensors.
just find out which wire is the main 12v ignition source wire at the switch and add a toggle right next to the factory switch. that way, when the toggle is switched on, the sensor system works as it did from the factory. when the switch is turned off, it will not allow the entire system to get any power.
