Anyone know how good Nexen tires are
I am looking for some new tires. I will be hauling a 30hp tractor on an 18ft trailer all summer long for my brushhogging business so i might be in some muddy fields. I live on a rough dirt road and the way my driveway is minimum is an aggressive all terrain, but i am looking for a good mud terrain that wont wear too bad from hauling the weight. I have found these Nexen Rodian MT's that look good. Just wondering if anyone has had any experience with this brand or this tire or if anyone knows of a better option. Truck 03 f250SD 4X4 5.4 Tractor New Holland TC30 w/ front end loader and 5ft Brushhog on an 18ft carhauler bumper pull trailer. Thanks.

Don't look like a bad tire. I got Cooper S/Ts on my truck and they are right on the edge of a mud tire but they have siping in the tread and are studdable. Those Nexens are pretty inexpensive, my st's cost quite a bit more. I got 285s on my truck and they might be a good size for you beacuse they are a little taller, wider and the tread is deeper than 265 usually. The tread on my sts are 5/8" deep. Little larger/wider tire should help you in the mud.

Is that 285/75/16. Do you ever tow much with the coopers.

Yeah they are LT285/75R16 D. Max I usually tow is 6klbs. once in a while around 8k lbs. The sidewall is tougher on the E rated tires and they have more plies. The 285 Ds I have are actually rated for 350lbs more weight per tire than the 235/85R16s that came with my truck.
How much weight are you pulling?

I don't have any experience with Nexen tires, (actually have never heard of them), but another option is BFG KM2 MTs. I've put on over 8000 miles on lots of gravel roads and they still look like new. And I do a lot of hauling to. 9000lbs+. Plus they look great, and aren't too loud. They do cost more about $200, but I am pleased with them. btw they are 285/75/r16. Load range E.

what about retreads. Ultra Grip Tires, Retread Tire | TreadWright, Inc. I just bought a set to try out but haven't got them studded and mounted yet. They cost about half of what a new tire does. I'm sure a lot of people bash them just from instinct but i wanted to try them for myself.

I have "E" load rating Kuhmo tires on my truck. They were what was on it when I got it, and looked like they were new. I talked to the previous owner and he said his tires were totally bald, so I guess the car lot put them on. Anyway, I didn't have great expectations for them, but 12k later I'm a believer. They've held up great, hardly any wear, they are quiet, and provide decent grip in poor weather conditions.
