I got my F350 CC 6.4l back in October (it seems like I've typed that several times now in these forums...). I've only towed the camper once, and the ATV utility trailer once. I've only got like 3500 miles on it now (dang work and inlaws keeps getting in the way of me taking the toys out). I'm new to the full-size trucks (I was towing my camper, about 7000#, with an F150 5.4 CC), so don't have much to compare it too, but I am really beginning to love my F350. It is nearly as quiet as my '05 F150, rides just a tad rougher (my F150 was 2WD, my F350 is 4WD), but pulls like a Clydesdale. My mileage has been steadily increasing as it gets broken in (little brother says wait until it hits 50k!). So, yeah, I'm really happy....

ruschejj, Welcome to FTE!!!! This is a great site to learn and share stories about our trucks and its always good to have feedback from folks with lots of miles.

How is the Allison tranny better than the torqshift? I have only driven a Chevy as a comparison and didnt notice anything that stood out to me. But I have never towed with one or driven long distances. Is it smoother? Have different features? More gears?

CAPRANG,
The single largest advantage to the Allison IMO is the engine breaking... When I tow my TT and am going down a large hill all I do is touch the break and the tranny takes over from there. If I let off the break at say 65mph going down hill the tranny will down shift automatically to keep me at that speed.... It is really nice!
Also the 06 and newer are 6 speed. I can tell you I really never notice the shift points unless I watch the tac. Real smooth.

If I could build the "Perfect Truck" from the ground up it would be a Ford with an Allison Tranny and either a Duramax or possibly a cummins engine..... WOW now that would really be something.
Now whith that said I belive my next truck is going to be just tlike yours... The HD edition CC.

Have a great week.

JT
