Good grief that's really bad. Last time I took my truck in (before I found this site) they jammed the emergency brake pedal down. I waited over a half hour for the truck after paying for the work when a guy came out and said they had a serious problem and I couldn't pick up my truck. They told me what happened and I walked down to the lot where my truck was parked. I got in, stepped on the pedal to free the ratchet, pulled the handle out and the pedal came right up. I drove it out and they all looked at me like I was some kind of freakin genius. Last time they touched any of my junk!!

Be careful. They may actually think they found it and tell you it needs to be replaced for $800 dollars.

i know its bad. so just where for sure is the TPS? they said TPS was under the hood, and there was an accelerator position sensor on that assembly and it would cost $350 for the assembly

Try this:

Throttle Assembly (Includes Pedal, TPS, & IVS) 94-97

(Ford) F6TZ-9F836-AA (F-Series)
(Ford) F5UZ-9F836-B (Econoline)

TPS (Throttle Position Sensor) 94-97

See "Throttle Assembly" (Not Available Individually)

Can't get into webshots for some reason so look at the go peddle. The connector with two wires is your IVS (button thing that clicks when pressing on the peddle) and above that the connector with the 3 wires is the TPS.

I had been told that we had to buy the complete pedal assembly because they only made the "senor only" for 99 up trucks and they would not fit ours.
