Vibration on acceleration
Anyway, I went to the locomotive shop to get the bearings swapped. We used the 45 ton press to get the old one off. I'm glad we used the press!! It took a lot of pressure to get the old one to come off the drive shaft. When it finally broke loose, there was a pretty loud BANG
The u-joint I had to replace was the one nearest the carrier bearing. I'm not sure which one went bad first, but I'm pretty sure they helped each other wear out. The u-joints for my 93's drive shaft are NAPA 331. I was very pleased to see MADE IN USA on them

I asked them about straps, for the axle yolk and was told that they have a kit with two straps and four bolts. The number on the kit is: 331-10 and comes with hex-head bolts!

I was also able to re-use the keystone clamps, on the slip yolk boot. I don't have a crimper, but it was easy! I got everything back together and brought the drive shaft home. It was then that I discovered that the strap kit I had gotten, was missing a bolt! My last trip to NAPA got me one that was complete.
I got the drive shaft back in the truck and I am giving the blue loctite a chance to dry a bit, before I take it anywhere.
