wondering what the benefits are of removing the EBPV?? Read some articles saying that removing will make turbo flow much better, but not sure. Also just found out that u can make an exhaust brake with EBPV in conjunction with a tune and TC lockup. Any thoughts? Thanks. Rob.
It is suppose to help the coolant warm up faster. If you live somewhere cold this might be nice to have. I don't know what the TC lock-up you are referring to. The only thing that comes to mind is Torque Converter. If you want to disable it you can unplug the sensor. This sets a check engine light on some years but on my 2000 just a soft code.
Well, I deleted mine and don't notice any difference in warmup times. I think the extra flow is more important than some small amount of warmup time gains that I haven't noticed. Here's what the stock outlet looks like:
And here's what my van turbo's outlet looks like sans EBPV:
Joe do you have Brandon's turbo rebuild pulled up on the computer while you was doing this . Good pictures, I personally think I am going to keep my EBPV unless I do a van turbo just for the fact I like it as an exhaust brake with my decel tune.
I had a seal leaking on me EBPV so I did the delete and threw out the old one. Now I wish I had kept it to rebuild and possibly reinstall so I could get the decel tune when I am ready to purchase a DP. Dang it!
That is true. Stupid thing is I hung on to it for months then made the hasty decision instead of just stashing it away. I will deal with it when I get the DP. No time soon though. Need to do the supporting mods first. lol

You noticed that, eh?? What you don't see is the phone (since I was taking pics with it!! ) that I used to call him when I almost lost a part..... Found it though.
You can always get one to put in the exhaust further down stream. I forget who it is that makes those, but it's pretty cool. I think it's clever of Jody to come up with that, but I think I'd rather have a dedicated button someplace else for that function and an opened up turbo. The aftermarket one isn't nearly the restriction the EBPV is. But either way, I don't tow a whole lot so I don't need the functionality, and I don't idle my truck to warm it up. And on top of that, I don't plan on living where I need to!! I'll be carting my butt back to a a warm climate (FL) soon.
Your moving Joe or just going down there for work. Pac Brake, Banks, and BD-Power make after market exhaust brakes. Go with the banks though look how much it slow down by those Graphs! Banks surely couldn't put out false advertising :-p.
