i have an '93 F-150 2WD, 351, E40 auto, supercab, long bed, towing/trailer package with Firestone helper bags in rear with over 200,000 miles.....the front rides smooth/soft and sits lower than the back...i certain the spring are original and are worn out......i would like to replace/ugrade springs and shocks, however i'm trying to figure out which springs would be the best...
so far i've found from researching here that Moog makes two styles that would work....
installed load rate free length
the #CC824 13.00" 1442 366 16.94"
and #CC844 12.75" 1557 630 15.40"
also found at Napa a model with no manufacture, but the part number and specs
#NCP2775390 13.00" 1664 423 19.54"
SOOOO??? what work work best to stiffen up the front end and raise it up 1/2" to 1" only? i like the rates and load of the Napa springs, but @ 19.54" would that make my truck look like a high boy in the front? are the 844's (normally for a 3/4 ton) too stiff for my truck? how much would it raise it? the 824's would likely work, but i'm thinking it would still be soft in the front end.....i also trailer a boat offten if that matters......anyone have this trouble trying to find a decent spring?
thanks for all reply's and posts......i have found alot of info on this site, but i'm getting stumped on this one.....
How much new springs raise up a front end would depend on how much they are sagging now.
There is a lot of useful info in the tech section at the top of this forum.
Here is a link to a thread in that section with lots of useful info on front springs for 92-96 f-series.
Hope this helps https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/3...your-info.html
I still have to change mine front springs as well.....also have the negative camber issues(mostly when reversing)
I recently put on brand new rear leaf springs but had an extra thick leaf added which gave me an extra 600-700 pounds. But now the rear end sits much higher than the front end(like it's up on blocks),
I will likely wait until the snow is gone though before I tackle the front springs.
I took my springs to this shop that makes springs and they re-arched them and added an extra leaf for cheap. It rides firmer and sits higher now.I think they charged me $160
I got spings for a 350 with a 460 from napa(i dont know the model #) and it brought the front up about 2in. So the top of the wheel well ended up about 34 1/2in up.(thats the best way i have found to measure). The ride is stiffer but not too stiff, and they get rid of alot of sway. it was $117 including tax.
and, all these trucks have issues when backing up. the front seems to sink. im unsure of the exact reason to why this happens but it does.
I used the 844's. Extended cab Eddie Bauer, the front springs were shot. Came up 1 1/2". Rides 200% better, but not too rough. Sits 1/2" higher in front than in back now (Fiberglass cap in back) Rear leafs in 1-2 paychecks should level 'er out again.
