[updated:LAST EDITED ON 14-Sep-02 AT 11:46 PM (EST)]I've heard of a product that you can remove your cat for a custom exhaust and plug in a "simulator" to the old O2 sensor harness that sends a preset emissions code to the computer and tricks the computer into thinking its there, thus not throwing a code. The reason I ask is because I am going to be removing the dual cat setup and the O2 reading will be messed anyway. Can anyone help me on a company/price, or if I am just thinking out loud again Thanks
O2 simulators are for vehicles with a sensor before and after the cat. I Think this is only obd II? Started in 96? The purpose of the second sensor is to prevent removal of the cats. Thus the need for the simulator.
Regardless your truck should only have one sensor. As long as you don't do anything screwy before the sensor it shouldn't matter if you pull the cats.
If you could fake out the first sensor it would be a bad idea to do so. The computer adjusts air/fuel off of it. With a bad reading it would run terrible.
He's right, you don't need it unless you have a 96 with a sensor before and after the cat.
