Cat delete options

All. I would like to delete the cat on my 2005 v10. I understand that if I delete it I will get a CEL light. I really don't want to tune it so I understand that my only other option is some sort of o2 sensor simulator.

Can some others that have done this chime in and let me know if there are any other options? If not where did you get this simulator from? And have you had any issues caused by using these simulators?

Thanks everyone

If you don't have any o2 sensors after the cat then you wont get a CEL. But I will tell you that you wont gain anything in the way of power or mileage by taking it off, I take that back you will gain your truck smelling like crap and its quite annoying. Mine is currently off because it plugged up and I haven't put a new one on yet. I noticed no difference with it off..

Yes I've read all the threads about how I really won't gain anything and it stinks. Every gas tow vehicle that I have ever owned I have removed It and threw a cherry bomb on. It sounds great if nothing else and the smell never really bothered me

I believe the 05 that I have has the after cat o2 sensor. I'm just looking to hear from any others that have done this and what they used to stop the CEL.

If I have to I will go the tune route but I would prefer not to if possible

Thanks everyone

I would climb under there and check as I think most of them didn't have one after the cat. My 03 doesn't..

Just looked and unfortunately there is one after the cat and prior to the muffler.

Thanks

I would leave the cat alone and change the y pipe from SPD. 5 star tune sells them as well and there have been improvements. A y pipe and a good free flowing muffler will help out. Both of these mods are not that expensive either.

I agree. Leave the cat on. If you know it won't help with power or mileage then why remove it? As Bentley stated get a Y-pipe and a good muffler and a 5 star tuner. Worth every penny!!

Removing mine and replacing it with just 3" straight pipe did nothing except make it stink and drone in the cabin. I put a Magnaflow on and I think it actually runs better with the cat on than with it off. I couldn't take the smell or the sound - smelled worse than my old Bronco with straight pipes.

Ha I know what you mean , you wouldn't think a modern fuel injected vehicle would stink so bad..

well based on all that I think I will just leave it alone for now. I cannot believe it would stink that bad I have done this on many older vehicles, suburbans, jeeps, etc... and you would get a little gassy odor, but not terrible. I'll focus on getting her ready for towing first. I'm planning a new brake controller, air bags and WD hitch setup. That will keep me busy for a little while.

Thanks all.

California models and Canadian models do have them.
They are obd2 compliant.

I knew of a guy who hollowed out his cat to get past the emissions inspection (they only did visuals at the time) and it smelled terrible!
