I am eyeing this kit come summer. That Texas heat will cook you..... It is a little pricey (more that I paid for my truck), but you can roll with the windows up.
You could find a used setup at a JY, or off ebay, maybe even craiges list. The problem with old is well, its old, and who know what you may have to replace? Your cost will rise, and who knows what it "could" cost you.
Cool thing about the classic auto air, is that all the guess work is done, its complete (from what it looks), and the air vents are out of the way compared to stock.
Either way good luck on the quest for a cooler cab, if you need help, just hollar, there are plenty of helpful people on here!!

that is pricy. but refurbishing a system bought off ebay that was never taken care of can be costly as well. (my situation)
what i like about that kit is that it comes with a sanden compressor and not a york.
Deershooter, I've been eyeballin that Classic Industries kit my self.
I really think you should buy the kit and do a complete write up and let us know how it went and how you like it.
mongoosekeith,
click on the link and look at the pics. Much nicer and more out of the way than OEM. And it's all engineered for modern refrigerant. By the time you monkey with OEM stuff you'll likely spend almost as much and be much less efficient/less cool and be bangin' passengers' knees. Unfortunately that current price is about $100 more than it was a year ago. Still I think it's the best bang for the buck.
