I have a 1972 F100 with a '85 302. I want to install a performance exhaust system. I was wondering what might be a good system. With this old of a truck I don't have to worry about cats or anything and it will be a true dual system. I was thinking of going with Flowmaster 40 seris. What size pipe and other muffler sugestions does anyone have.
thanks

Did you post in the 67-72 forum too? I replied to that post. But I think 40 series are a good idea, I mean they'r proven on the 5.0 'stang. If you want cheap, you can't beat the $15 summit turbos. They flow really well, but are going to be rather quiet. I've also been hearing alot of good things about the hooker aerochambers.
Sorry about double posting found the '67-72 forum first but thought might get some good ideas in here as well thanks for all you help. I think I will go with the 40 seris
I love my 40 series, paid 60 bucks for it from summitracing.com
Primary rig is Green Thunder:
95' F-150 XLT 4x4, 302, 5 spd, MSD 6A, Flowmaster Exhaust, Sunroof, Clear corners w/ Diamond headlights, CD player with 2 10" subs and some 32" BFG Muds .
Thats it for now, saving for a stang. Check out my Gallery for a look-see.
I got some immitation flowmasters on ebay. They said a year ago fm had to give up their pattent and the original so thats why all these companies are producing them now. I like the ones I got a little more than an actual flowmaster. In comparison to a real 40 series (my dad has one on his 5.4 screw) the immitations I bought were MUCH thicker steel and fully welded with a mig. And where the plates and deflector are only spot welded on my dads 40 mine were welded all the way across the deflector and both plated were welded all the way around.
Get this $30 each. I got 2-21/2 Center in Center out
www.ebay.com it's an online auction that sells eveything you can think of. Go there and under keyword type in Flowmaster and you will get all sorts of stuff.
They sound identical to the 40's. I have them on my '84 with a 351w with 2.5 headers and full 2.5 pipes with a crossover into the mufflers which exit in front of the pass sire rear wheel. Also have some 3.5x22 tips I but on. It now sound MUCH better. Really deepend the tone. Sounds NICE.
I found some immitations here and if you buy them there is a chart at the bottom where you pick the ones you want have a look see.
