for those of us that do not have a vehicle lift or hoist but want to catch most fluids menards and home depot carry plastic leak pans that go under washing machines these are 3 inches deep and work great at catching spills and cost 12.00 i dont use them for oil changes but when dropping a tranny pan they work great
Good call! I found a very large aluminum tray that I place on the driveway under my catch pan when changing fluids and doing greasy work.

It humbles me to sense the spirit of servant-hood in your reply.
Thanks to all of you who had the privilege of serving our great country
Ive changed mine myself a couple times... dropped the pan, changed the filter, took the time to line up the stupid little plug on the torque converter and drained that too... i get about 16 quarts out everytime i do it... and let me tell you... i know we have a lot of DIYers here, and im all about DIY, but this job is one that i now take to the shop! regardless of having a lift or what tools u have, its just a messy job, and you really dont save much $$ doing it your self. Getting Tran fluid all over myself on my Saturday isnt much fun... so if you have a tran shop that u trust, and they have a decent price, anything around $150 is good, then i would take it in....
Just FYI... last time i did it, i used Mobil 1, and at $7 a quart for 16 qts, that is over $110 right there... granted the tran shop isnt using mobil 1, but at $150 for a full flush, that is a deal...
