351W ??'s

Ok, so im in the next week or so will be buying a 92 F150 Flareside with a 5.8L 351W. The motor has only about 72,xxx miles on it but it was switched into the flareside when the other 5.8 crapped out at 220,000 miles or so. The guy told me it takes 8 quarts of oil. i was just wondering was there ever a 351W that took 8 qts. of oil with out the deep rear sump oil pan being switched to the block. Because im trying to figure out which year this motor is.

According to my manual,6qts for all truck gasoline engines with new filter.Try borrowing a dipstick from another truck to check it out.Too much oil cause`s foaming which leads to less oil for the bearings and parasitic drag on the rotating assembly.
