crank question

I was reading the thread about balancer and fly wheel questions and it got me thinking. I have a 71 351 block and I recently ordered a new Scat crank. I know my block has a two piece rear main seal but when I ordered the crank there wasnt any option for 1 or 2 piece seal applications. So my question is; are the cranks any different between the 1 or 2 piece main seal applications or is it just the blocks that are different and require different seals. And if the cranks are different, how can I tell by looking if I got the right one?

I just went out to the garage and pulled the rear main off of a 84 5.0 and the back flange was straight across where the one piece seal fits.The one piece seal also fit on my `69 302 crank , but the `69 crank has a lip on the inside of the flange and doesn`t look like it would fit in the 5.0 block unless the lip was machined off.So I`m thinkin` thats why they advertise some cranks to fit either a one or two piece seal block,they just remove that lip.As long as you use the 28 oz damper/flywheel w/older 302 cranks,and 50oz w/newer 5.0 cranks you can use either crank in either block.All 351W`s are 28 oz Someone correct me if I`m wrong! p.s. ditto for neautral balance

I just looked at my Scat crank and the rear is flat with no lip. Im guessing it will work in my 71 block. Im going to call Scat and see if I can get a straight answere

I talked to the Scat rep. today and he siad that the crank I bought can be used with a one piece or two piece seal. He siad they make them that way so they can be used an any 351 block. So I guess Im good to go.
